How Mitchell's Miracles charity can help you
You have just been told that your child has Neuroblastoma cancer and the likelihood is that you have never heard of this strain of cancer before. Your life stops and everything changes. Mitchell’s Miracles is a UK children’s cancer charity that has been set up to help you keep moving and support you on your journey. We are here to help you emotionally and financially.
How you can support your child
Remaining positive is an important part of the healing process and adopting a positive, calm, loving, reassuring, attitude can go a long way to helping your child cope much better with their treatment. It’s not easy being a parent at the best of times, So to receive the devastating news that your child has a Neuroblastoma diagnosis can be overwhelming and extremely frightening.
Being truthful with your child is imperative to helping them adjust to what is happening around them. It is important for them to know that they are unwell, and as a result will receive lots of care and attention. As you explain the illness and its treatment, give clear and honest answers to all questions in a way that your child will understand. Fully explain and prepare your child for procedures which may cause them pain, pressure, stinging or general discomfort. These procedures may feel frightening to them (and you) but are vital steps towards helping your child feel better.
