The team at Mitchell’s Miracles have been working hard this year to bring more light-hearted entertainment to our supporters.
Have you ever wanted to be an investigator? If the answer is YES, then we have the perfect event for you… On Saturday the 29th October, Mitchell’s Miracles will be teaming up with the “Spirit Paranormal” ghost hunting group for a night to remember, investigating the hauntings of Redoubt Fort in Harwich. The moated Redoubt Fort was built in 1808 and is an impressive 180ft (60m) diameter circular building used to defend the port of Harwich against a Napoleonic invasion. Ten guns sit on the battlements. Eighteen casements below would house 300 troops in siege conditions. It mounted ten 24-pounders and housed a regiment of soldiers with sufficient food and stores to with stay a lengthy siege. Fortunately, it was never called upon to demonstrate its powers. The fort was restored by the Harwich Society as a voluntary project. Part of the fort is now used as a military museum. Battle re-enactments and other events are held during the summer months. For more information visit Harwich Redoubt Fort. Certified paranormal investigator, Jan Saunders, is really excited to be supporting Mitchell’s Miracles with this charitable event. Jan has many stories of her experiences whilst investigating the many venues they visit around the UK. Jan assured me that all participants interested, will be given the chance to experience some of their great ghost hunting equipment, such as, K2’s, REM pods, trail cameras, music boxes, SLS’s, lasers, Dictaphones and more. SO…If you are looking for a more unique challenge, and are up for a scare, then please join us on an eerie, ghost experience tour of “Harwich Fort” …enter at your own risk! You could take this experience a little further, as there is an option to bed down in the fort for the night. You can pitch a tent up in the moat area and have a 360 view of the surrounding spooky area… “Whatever You Do, Don’t Fall Asleep.” Fancy dress is optional, but there will be a ghostbusting prize for the best costume. ![]() As September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we would like to take this opportunity to highlight what children with childhood cancer have to face as part of their treatment. Certain cancers such as Neuroblastoma, Leukaemia or Lymphoma can lower the platelet count. The abnormal cells in these cancers can crowd out healthy cells in the bone marrow, where platelets are made. Platelets, or thrombocytes, are small, colourless cell fragments in our blood that form clots and stop or prevent bleeding. Platelets are made in our bone marrow, the sponge-like tissue inside our bones. Bone marrow contains stem cells that develop into red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Signs and symptoms can include:
![]() If a child’s platelet count is too low, it could affect receiving their Chemotherapy. How can you help? You can show your support by Going Gold for the month of September and by donating platelets, bloods, funds or time. All contributions are greatly appreciated! Receiving bloods is vital, without a normal haemoglobin count they can become asymptomatic. Signs and symptoms can include:
Please, share to show you care. By Sharing our posts, you can help spread awareness to our cause, which could save a child's life…it only takes a few minutes! 💛 After such a great success last year (and many requests to repeat the display again this year) we take great pleasure in inviting you to.. ![]() Mitchell's 2nd Annual Magnificent Fireworks Display! Thank you again to the Romford Raiders Ice Hockey Club for your support💙 With the amazing, continued support and aid of the marvellous fundraiser Norman James, Mitchell’s Miracles held its 4th Annual Golfing Tournament on Friday 6th August 2021 at Top Meadow Golf Course. The Tournament keeps getting better and better every year and even though COVID tried its hardest to derail us, we prevailed and still managed to make the event happen due to the wonderful, hardworking, and dedicated Norman James. As usual all of Norman’s spare time went into making this tournament an amazing event and we cannot thank him enough!
The day started at 8:00am with getting the players registered, handing them their scorecards and goodie bags. Then the players headed to the restaurant for their tea, coffee, cereal and full English breakfast. At 10:00am the first players made their way to the first tee. They were then staggered up until 11:44am, being the last tee off time. The Mitchell’s Miracles Team had a great view from the first tee, we watched all the players go off to start their round of golf and captured some fantastic photos as they started. As the round came to an end, we greeted the players on the 18th hole. The first four ball came off at 2:30pm, after a challenging 4 and a half hours on the course during the rain? The Tournament attendees were certainly looking forward to spending some well deserved time at the 19th hole. The last of the players entered the clubhouse at around 5:00pm, where they were all seated on the front terrace of the clubhouse and a delicious 3 course meal was served. After everyone had refuelled, Norman started the presentation. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank the following supporters for their wonderful donations: -The Goodmayes Masonic Lodge for their £100 donation -A member of the Masonic Lodge for their donation of £20 -Another member of the Lodge, Micky Roach, for his £40 donation -Ali Barbers, Romford for their gift donation -Starbucks, Romford (The Brewery) for their gift donation -Sainsbury's, Romford for their gift donation - Our sponsor “Keystones Property” for their £250 donation - “Tony LeVoi”, Romford for their £250 donation A great Charity Golfing Tournament was had by all and managed to raise an outstanding £1,612. |
